The Brown Private Equity Club is the undergraduate home for private equity at Brown — a student-run community built to make a historically opaque industry open to anyone willing to do the work. We develop the next generation of investors and open doors to careers in the field.

Our Story

BPEC was founded in 2022 by a small group of students who wanted a more rigorous, hands-on way to learn about private equity than the classroom alone could offer. What began as an informal study group has grown, in just a few years, into one of Brown's largest and most active finance organizations.

Along the way the club has built the things that now define it: a technical academy that trains members from the fundamentals up, an analyst program placing students on live deal work with real firms, an annual case competition, a speaker series, and an advisory board of accomplished investors. Through all of it, our conviction has stayed the same. Private markets should be understood, not just pursued — and the surest way to develop investors is to give students real responsibility, real mentorship, and a real community early. The club exists for its members, and its measure is the people it forms and the doors it opens for them.

Our Community

Our members come from every corner of Brown — economics and computer science, applied math, history, and beyond — drawn together by a shared curiosity about how businesses are valued, financed, and built. They go on to firms across private equity, growth equity, credit, and banking, and they stay close long after they graduate.

What distinguishes BPEC is the network around it: an advisory board of accomplished investors and a growing community of alumni and leaders who return to mentor, recruit, and invest in the next generation.
